I better tread lightly with this topic. There’s no doubt in my mind that this is all about personal opinion. Therefore, I’d like to make clear that these misconceptions are just my opinion about Replica Watches.
Fakes Are Cheap:
I think we’ve all been brought up with the view that if it is a fake (or replica) then it is probably some cheaply made piece of crap that someone found down at your local marketplace. While I suppose there are still a lot of tatty Replica watches knocking about around the place, I’d say that the overall quality of a fake/replica watch has grown incredibly over the past ten years. Admittedly, you have to pay for the increased quality. You won’t find a $150 Rolex Fake down at the market with anywhere near the same quality of some of the $400 Rolex Replicas. But, I would say that paying the extra is completely worth it, which leads me on to my next point…
Replicas Don’t Come Close To The Real Thing:
This is definitely going to be a controversial one. Let’s lay this out for the sake of an argument. A GENUINE Rolex will set you back, lets say $10,000. The equivalent REPLICA, with Japanese movement, high quality parts etc, will probably set you back a maximum of $500. Now, let’s say that the Replica is 98% accurate to the genuine watch. Where does the extra $9,500 come from in that extra 2%? Now don’t get me wrong, there’s something special about owning a genuine Rolex watch in comparison to a Replica. However, unless you’re a multi-millionaire, it makes no sense to make yourself bankrupt to feed your watch addiction on genuine watches.
I think there is a huge difference between buying a Replica Watch to pass off as Genuine, and buying a Replica Watch because you see it as an art form.
